Choosing the correct industrial thermometer for the environment it is being used in is very important for accuracy and repeatability. You should consider the following criteria.
- Resolution of the reading. whole numbers 1°C or tenths 0.10°C or more 0.01°C
- Measurement range, do you need extreme temperatures?
- Accuracy, measured as plus or minus 1°C or do you need it to be better say 0.05°C
- Response time, just how fast do you need it to respond.
Often there can be a trade off between the above areas and few applications need all the above so make sure you list what is most important before choosing your thermometer.
